Bideford Long Bridge in North Devon spans the River Torridge near its estuary and connects the old part of the town, and formerly important river port, of Bideford on the left bank with East-the-Water on the right bank. It is one of the longest mediaeval bridges in England, being 677 feet long with 24 arches.

ReplyDeleteHave a fine day and week, Jackie!❤️😘
That's an amazing bridge! I can't help but think of the difficulty in constructing it without modern equipment. I wonder how many men worked on it from start to finish, and what their stories were. If only the bridge could talk!
ReplyDeleteThat's a classy looking bridge!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful old bridge. XO
ReplyDeleteI like the shape of the arches, they aren’t the typical rounded curve one sees with most bridges ‼️
ReplyDeleteAwesome bridge photo ~ Wow! ~ thanks, hugs,

It's amazing how they built things to last then.
ReplyDeleteHow incredible that the bridge is so long, with 24 arches, and still standing strong after all this time.
ReplyDeleteI somehow missed this last week! It takes me back to the many family holidays we spent in beautful Devon!
