Last week was Dubrovnik, and this week is Split, still in Croatia.
Facing the harbour, Diocletian’s Palace is one of the most imposing Roman ruins in existence and is actually the main part of the beautiful old walled city of Split.
A wedding had just taken place when we were there.
A beautiful setting for a special day.
The church tower.
This kitty looked quite dirty and thin but was friendly. He had found himself a nice place to sit in the sun. I wish I had some food with me.
This is a statue of Gregory of Nin located outside the Palace's Golden Gate and is a tribute to the Bishop who battled the Pope over the right to celebrate mass in the Croatian language during the 10th century.
I am joining Sandee at Comedy Plus for the blog hop.

ReplyDeleteWhat an incredibly beautiful dress that bride was wearing. I grew up in the Catholic church and had to listen to Latin all my life until I got to be in my teens and stopped going. It was probably in the 1970s when they started doing some of it in English. Your pictures are always so enjoyable thank you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a trip, and gorgeous photos!!
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous architecture! If only the old buildings could talk - - they'd have many secrets to share, I'm sure!

ReplyDeleteThat church tower is quite impressive - just imagine the hours and hours of work that went into its construction, or maybe years.
