Baltics Cruise July/ August 2014, Helsinki

And so to our next port of call, Helsinki in Finland.
Karin, a fellow blogger from Finland, North happened to be in Helsinki the day before we arrived so she stayed overnight so she could meet up with us.
It was nice to be able to put a face to someone I had only spoken to through blogging before.

She was able to show us the sights and we started in the harbour area.

This is the sculpture of the Naked Blacksmiths and this is what is said about it:
The sculpture of the naked blacksmiths stands in the little square on the corner of Mannerheimintie and Aleksanterinkatu in the centre of Helsinki. Rumour has it that if a virgin passes a hammer will hit the anvil.
The sculpture was created by Felix Nylund in 1932. It survived the bombing in the Continuation War.

Upensky Cathedral built on the rocks.

some local scenery.

After a good day out, saying goodbye over a coffee.
Next stop, Stockholm.
