This is a vent with hot air escaping from the volcano. I can't remember how hot our guide said it was but many many times higher than boiling point. He said under no condition put hands or feet beyond the bars. Of course someone had to try it and it peeled the skin right off his hand. His guide rushed him off to hospital but I don't know what happened because he wasn't from our group.

That has to really be something to see in person.
ReplyDeleteVolcanoes are amazing, and dangerous. There's always one person who has to test the limits, isn't there.
ReplyDeleteThat would have been amazing to see! But why is there always one idiot? 🙄
ReplyDeleteJackie, thank you for your kind words on Derry's passing. It's going to take a while to find peace and a new normal, which I know you understand. ❤️
That certainly would be amazing to see!
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings, Jackie!
There is always that one person who has to push the limits. Volcanoes are scary but fascinating.
ReplyDeleteImpressive place and somehow frighten!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this place!
Thank you Jackie and Happy WW! 😘❤️
We visited a volcano when we cruised to Hawaii. Most impressive.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Jackie. Big hug. ♥
I have never seen a living volcano. Why some idiot wouldn't listen to a warning is beyond me - a Darwin Award honorable mention.
ReplyDeleteOne of Mother Nature's volatility times ~ amazing ~ Xo

How cool that you got to see that. Whoever reached beyond the pipe was pretty dumb. XO
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a volcano in my life other than from photos and videos. It sounds like a great adventure. Sad to hear that one person didn't hear the advice from the tour guides.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these photos and details. Have a great day!
I would really love to see that for real!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't dare go near a volcano that is still smoking.
