Wordless Wednesday. - Stockholm.

 Our approach to Stockholm took us through the archipelago which consists of 30,000 islands, not all inhabited.

There are so many marinas that it seems that everyone in the Scandinavian countries must own a boat!

Sorry about the quality of these two photos. I was using my phone on maximum zoom and they didn't come out very clear.

I don't know what this place is, but I assume it is a mill of some sort. It looks like it has small blades, but not the sails you usually associate with windmills.

We wondered why the traffic was being stopped.
 

We soon found out when the marching band arrived.

Then the next group followed.

We had been heading to the Royal Palace and didn't realise the Changing of the Guard was about to start.

Baltics Cruise July 2014 - Stockholm.

It was still early as we sailed into Stockholm.

We passed this unusual fountain. If you look closely you can see the figure of a man in it.

You can see it more clearly here.

As is common on the wharves, this warehouse is now a hotel.

The river and harbour for smaller boats is very close to the city and palace.

Stockholm is made up of 14 islands which continue on from the archipelago. These ferries are seen everywhere connecting the islands.
