Wordless Wednesday.

 Hubbard Glacier in Alaska.

If you look to the right hand side, you can see it calving. I remember the noise being just like thunder.

Wordless Wednesday

During our cruise in October we would go to the Concierge Lounge every evening to catch up with friends. It was for suites only, so never got crowded.

Me centre back and Ivor on my right. The Captain's wife who we have become good friends with over the years is second on my left.

It was our 54th wedding anniversary while we were onboard and we found our room had been decorated.

I hope the video will play.

Wordless Wednesday - The Great Belt Bridge, Denmark.

Lots of photos of the same bridge so I hope you don't find it boring. It's name is Storebaeltstbroen, but more commonly known as The Great Belt Bridge.

It connects two areas of Denmark, Zealand and Funen. The link will tell you more.

There was very little clearance going under it, and I would not have wanted to be on the top deck when we passed under it. These photos were taken from our balcony on deck 14, and there were three more decks higher!

Wordless Wednesday -Skagen, Denmark.

The approach to Skagen. The complete breakwater was built from stone.

If you enlarge the photo you will hopefully be able to see that the complete wall was covered with cormorants.

They are clearer in this photo.

Not sure if these are of any significance. More likely just a modern sculpture.

Wordless Wednesday, Dubrovnik.

Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Our first sight when we got off the shuttle bus into the town was the beautiful rugged coastline.

A coach tour arrived at the same time so it was busy walking to the gateway into the walled city.

There were already a lot of people walking around the top of the city walls so we decided to keep at ground level to start with.

Clock tower in Luza Square.

If you look carefully you can see one of the two bronze figures that strike the bell. over the years the bronze took on a green tint so they became known as Zelenci - the green men.

Inside of St Blaise church. St. Blaise is the patron saint of Dubrovnik.

St. Silvan who was martyred in the 4th century.

He is known as an incorrupt saint which means his body does not decay. St. Silvan died 1600 years ago yet his body is perfectly preserved even to the gash in his neck. Some say it is a wax replica, others say it is the original body. No-one seems to know the truth, but either way I find it rather creepy.

On a lighter note this kitty doesn't worry either way about what is inside the church. He does look very similar to the kitty we met in Split though.

We walked through one of the stone archways and came out into a small harbour area.

The stalls were selling locally made goods so we bought some mementos there.

Wordless Wednesday, Kirkwall, Orkney Islands.

.We had been to Kirkwall before, so this time decided to stay around the town.

The harbour where the cruise ships dock.

The above three photos were all taken from the ship before we went ashore.

On our way walking around the town we found the Orkney Museum and spent some time in there.

Behind the museum is Tankerness House Gardens.
Doesn't look the most comfortable of seats......

or is it?

As it was a very hot day we passed quite a while there enjoying the sun, flowers and the scenery.
