Wordless Wednesday.

After M'dina (last week's post)we went back to the port at Valletta via the fishing village of Marsaxlokk.
Traditional fishing boat.

The fishing village of Marsaxlokk.

The town church.

From there we returned to the port of Valletta to sail for our next port of call. We were able to see the lovely architecture as we sailed out.

Wordless Wednesday - Bridges.

The first two photos are approaching Bergen where it usually rains, but we had beautiful weather.

The third and fourth are Stavanger where the sun usually shines, and the only overcast day that we had.

Everything is super expensive in Norway, so I wouldn't even hazard a guess at the price of the chalets on the fjord!

Wordless Wednesday - A new best friend?

Someone we met in the park!
"Lining both sides of Plaza Héroes de Cavite is a promenade with wooden benches. One of them is occupied by this forlorn fellow with a duffle bag at his feet. Go ahead … sit next to him, drape your arm over his shoulder and console the young man. He represents an Army soldier from the Infantry Regiment ‘España 18’ who fought during the Spanish-American War. The sculpture was created by Fernando Sáenz de Elorrieta. Nearby is another full-size bronze titled Replacement Navy Sailor."

Wordless Wednesday

I haven't posted or commented for the past 2 weeks and this is the reason why.

We were on a cruise to France, Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar.

These were taken in Cartagena, Spain and was the first time we had been there. It was nice to see the marina right next to where the ship docked. Hopefully there will be more photos but I forgot to pack my camera and had to use my phone instead. The dreaded finger made to many appearances in the photos!

Arctic Circle Cruise October 2019 - Stavanger Part 1

After the excitement of seeing the Northern Lights we headed south towards home. Our final port of call was Stavanger in the south of Norway. These are various views of the city and around the waterfront.
Once again, click on the photos for a clearer picture.

Arctic Circle Cruise October 2019 - Alta part 2

After we had gone ashore we travelled to see some of the local sights.
Once again, the photos will be clearer if they are clicked on.

The Cathedral of the Northern Lights

Sami camp

In the evening we had a private tour booked to hopefully find the Northern Lights.

But all we found was snow!

Our Sami driver /guide stopped for us to have coffee and cake while he rang around to see if any other guides had found clear sky.

We had headed for Finland and then back towards Tromso where we had been the previous day, but no luck.
We had been following the snow plough and this photo shows how deep the snow was.
We did get to see the Northern Lights the next day, but that will be in the next post.
