These photos were all taken in the morning as we sailed into Tromso.
Although it was mid June, they had a snowfall 2 days before we got there, and it was very cold.
The Arctic Cathedral can be seen in the corner of the photo. We visited it later in the day which will come in the next post.
A closer view of the cathedral.
Tromso ski jumps. They had hoped to be chosen for the Olympics when they were held in Norway but were unsuccessful.
Then it was time for breakfast before heading out for the day.

Norwegian Fjords June 2015 - Honningsvag.
Our next stop was Honningsvag which is the port for visiting the North Cape (Nordkapp). I wanted some stamps so we went into the large store where we were docked.
It was certainly different to the shops at home with the stuffed animals amongst the souvenirs etc.
We had been here before and taken a trip to the North Cape, so this time we just walked around the harbour.
Really, unless you take a trip from here there is not much to see, but we always like to get off and stretch our legs.
Views taken from the ship.
Looking down from our balcony. The building in the front is the shop we went into.
Leaving Honningsvag.
North Cape. You can just see the visitor centre on the right hand edge of the cliffs.
I zoomed in on the visitor centre as we passed it.
The midnight sun. This photo was taken a few minutes before midnight.
Next stop is Tromso.

Norwegian Fjords June 2015 - Trondheim
The next port was Trondheim. As in most ports we did our own thing and walked around.
This is Nidaros Cathedral which is the world's northernmost Gothic Cathedral. It was built from 1070 over the tomb of Olav, the Viking king who brought Christianity to Norway. The cathedral was completed around 1300. During the summer you are able to climb the 172 steps to the top of the tower for a wonderful view of the city.
Being Spring, the tulips were in full flower.
A sculpture outside the Trondheim Art Museum.
And so back to the ship to head further north to Honningsvag.

Norwegian Fjords June 2015 - Andalsnes
Our next port was Andalsnes and if you think it looks cold you would be right!
Every stop we made we were told it was colder than usual and it had snowed a couple of days before we got there. The only exception was Stavanger earlier in the cruise where it was quite warm in the sun.
We got off the ship and walked around the town, so these photos like most during this cruise are all about the scenery.

Norwegian Fjords June 2015 - Flam.
Our next call was to Flam and once again there is no need for many words. It's all about the scenery.
Photos 1-4 are the approach along the Aurlandsfjord., a branch of the huge Sognefjord.

Once we got there we took a half day sightseeing tour. We went through many tunnels and our guide joked that if a Norse man sees a mountain he has to build a tunnel through it.
It certainly seemed that way.
Photos 5-10 are taken during the tour.

In the distance I could see a statue which I later found out was of the Fridtjov the Bold overlooking Sognefjord.
The statue stands in a country park and was a gift from Emperor Wilhem II in 1913.

I zoomed in but the photo isn't very clear. There is a much better photo in the link above.
